Many Societies Have Appreciated Honda Motorcycles

Soichiro Honda's passion was automobiles, but, paradoxically, he designed Honda motorcycles. He enjoyed driving extremely fast, as well as enjoying racing, and since he worked in an automotive repair shop as a teenager, he knew the mechanical things. He could tell a lot about operating motorbikes, being the owner of a Harley as well as an Indian.

Honda had a repair service shop in 1928, but was 41 years old in 1948, when he first started the Honda Motor Company. He believed he needed to develop it well, and produce it well, to compete well, so his primary focus was on design, followed by quality. In 1953 japan was going through a depression, and, despite the fact that sales of motorcycles were on the up, the existence of his company was in jeopardy. Even though an insufficient number of sales were being made, he kept his factory going because he disliked the thought of taking work away from people. It was a good call, because the C100 Super Cub was launched in 1958, and it became the world's most successful motorcycle. The transmission was capable of only three speeds, and the motor was 4-stroke, however it was versatile, cheap and everybody could use it.

Women specifically accepted it for the objective of commuting, but novice riders of both genders loved it for its ease of use. The recognition of this bike skyrocketed Honda to the number one position by volume of motorcycle makers in 1959. At that time they made a decision to set their sights on the entire world. They assumed that if they could first capture the United States market, it might start the ball rolling. They believed when their models were accepted by the American people, they would likely win over the rest of the world as well. Honda was in fact first offered to the American public in June, 1959, in Los Angeles, and by 1960 it was possible buy a Honda from any of more than 75 stores.

By means of community involvement , largely through sponsoring 50% of the funding needed by a couple of organizations, Honda became a trusted brand. These were the Motorcycle Industry Council, as well as the Motorcycle Safety Council, both highly valued by enthusiasts of motorcycles. In the 70's the Honda company kept developing new models that people just couldn't resist, and they stayed number one in the industry. In 1973 Honda cycles were the champions of over 70 races around the globe, and they were soon famous as the speediest available. The innovative GL1000 gold Wing was launched in 1975, making touring bikes comfortable and stylish, and the idea was hurriedly emulated by Honda's competition.

Innovative motorcycles, attractive to different cultures, have continued to be manufactured by Honda. Part of their great image is a result of their continued practice of donating motorcycles to causes that they regard as worth supporting. Bike safety keeps benefiting by Honda's continued funding of training classes and dissemination of important information for the promotion of motorcycling safety. Through many decades now Honda have confirmed that their motorcycles tend to be amongst the most reliable around. The success they already have achieved with some of the big risks they have taken has led to Honda growing to be a virtual emperor of motorcycles.
